I'm still trying to decide how to paint the PG Red Astray that I have. I don't want to start testing new techniques on it so I bought a smaller kit for practice. I managed to assemble this Hazel in two evenings and then took some pictures of it in the next day's sunshine. It turned out pretty nicely in my opinion.
I actually bought two of the same kit. One for me and one for my brother as a gift. He's into Warhammer and such, so I tried to find something like Space Marine style. I picked Hazel because of the general bulkiness of the model. It looks more like a functional war machine than some of the more elegant Gunplas around. You might also notice the Space Marine similarity in how I posed the kit. This Gundam appears in Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans manga, but I haven't read that.
Any good ideas for the paint scheme? UPDATE: This model is now finished and pictures of the completed Hazel are here. In the end I went with a paint scheme very close to the plastic colors with some details borrowed from the box art.
The RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] is the upgraded form of the RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel] from the Universal Century timeline. It was featured in Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans. The unit is piloted by Wes Murphy.
